Arid mallee country is vast and flat. Although this large reserve is brimming with birdlife and bird species, and every dawn is typically rich with bird energy and variety, birds are very widely dispersed throughout the landscape. Recording first light/dawn choruses, here, can be challenging, and the obvious and best choice for a wide perspective of this widely-dispersed activity is to use a pair of sensitive omnidirectional microphones. – hearingbeings

Recorded during the hour after sunrise. Night and dawn had been quite calm, but the wind picked up quite vigorously, yet peacefully, soothingly, with the rising sun, swirling and soughing through the clusters of the fine needle-leaves of the Sheoaks (and occasionally also through the windjammers of the microphones). Listening with good headphones is recommended. – Soundcloud

In reviews of our new album Luminous Rot, we have been compared to a lot of bands across a variety of genres. The most common have been My Bloody Valentine, Godflesh, Sunn O))), Ministry, and The Sisters of Mercy. (That last one is kind of weird to be honest, since neither of us have ever really listened to them that much.) Die Künstlerin Kara Walker wurde mit Scherenschnitten bekannt, die brutale Geschichten über Rassismus erzählen. In Basel sind nun hunderte ihrer bisher ungezeigten Zeichnungen zu sehen. Eine fantastische Ausstellung

Kara Walker war eine der ersten schwarzen Künstlerinnen, die Kolonialgeschichte und Versklavung, Diskriminierung und systematischen Rassismus zum zentralen Thema ihrer Kunst machte. Sie war auch als eine der Ersten darin erfolgreich und auf internationalen Biennalen und Ausstellungen vertreten – und lange Zeit damit ziemlich alleine.
