Born in 1975 Parkano, Finland Lives and works in Helsinki Jari Silomäki is a photographer with a special focus on the narrative documentary genre. The central reiterating subject of his works throughout the years has been the relationship between individuals and the bigger historical narratives of which they are a part. All of his projects are open-ended, so, they have a long time span and I prefer to take on different projects simultaneously. Jari Silomäki is a doctoral student at Aalto University, and are looking into possible ways of directing people in photographs, which I contrast to the theories of directing actors in the theatre.
